Right before Christmas I had the privilege of second shooting a wedding with an awesome photographer named Sidney Middlebrooks. The wedding was at a beautiful venue here in middle Georgia called Tryphena's Garden and the couple was gorgeous and sweet. I had such a fun time working together with Sidney.
This was not the first time I had second shot or assisted at a wedding. I have also helped another local photographer several times and have really enjoyed the job. There's something about being a small (but important) part of a couple's special day that gives so much purpose to the job. As I followed Sidney and took photographs of the bride and groom from different angles, details of the reception and interacted with these families, something just clicked with me. I decided right then that I would begin pursuing wedding photography as part of my business.
Friends, I am so excited about this!! I never thought that I would be drawn to weddings the way that I am now. It's such an exciting adventure to be starting. For a while now I have been behind the scenes and I have learned so much from some amazing photographers. I have also realized along the way that being a wedding photographer is a huge privilege as well as a huge responsibility! As a photographer, the day you are capturing is a monumental event in the lives of not only the couple getting married, but their families, friends and countless others. The way a photographer documents your wedding is the way the special events that happen on that day will be remembered. There's something so profound in that. My job as your photographer is immensely important to me.
The bride and groom have such an important job--to choose the right person--not only considering their photography style, but you must also love working with the person behind the camera. Meeting your photographer and getting to know him or her on a personal level is something that you will not regret doing. And believe me, it's not one-sided here. The photographer wants to get to know you, too! Your time over lunch or coffee will be invaluable, informative and hopefully fun!
My personal goal with my own wedding photography clients will be to get to know the bride and groom as people first. Your desires, wishes, dreams and goals are what helps me understand the vision you have for your wedding day. And my job is to bring that to life through photographs by documenting the most important day of your life.
I am ecstatic to start offering weddings as part of my services and I can't wait to hear from you!
